Subject multiple notes

I'm new to tab editors. I've been fooling around with tuxguitar and trying to add more notes but can't figure out how. This is such a basic thing but I'm completely lost. If you do File> New you get a single measure. How do incorporate multiple notes in one measure to create an Arpeggio?

Please help and Thanks in advance!

click on the note length of your choice (e.g. quaters) in the top right of the screen, click on the string in the tab view of the measure, enter the fret on your keyboard -> the note will show up in both the tab and the note view.
... move to the next note possition using the arrow keys and repeat the above (at the end of the measure just click the right-arrow key to create a new measure).
