Does anybody know how to use the alternative repeats and how they work?

Yeah, I am wondering this a bit too. I have tried few different options, but I haven't got it work yet.

Here's my (pretty simple) case:
I have one riff which has two different endings. The riff should be played twice with both endings:
riff1 + end1
riff1 + end2
riff1 + end1
riff1 + end2

That sounds pretty simple, and I can get it almost to work.
But for some reason, after playing both endings twice as should, the main riff is played once more and then it jumps straight to the next riff without either of the alt. endings. :)

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Mikey, what you really need todo this, are musical segnos..
( they are not supported yet in tuxguitar ).

With alternative endings, the last end must don't have a repeat ( often the last end, is played only one time. )
but if "end2" finish with a repeat, it allways will back to riff1, and the final ending is "riff2" (instead of end2)

So to make it work you may need duplicate the "end2" measures.
So you add this structure:
| Riff 1
| End 1 ( with alternatives 1,3 )
| End 2 ( with alternative 2 , and make sure to close repeat at the end )
| End 2 Copy ( these are the duplicated end 2 measures )
| Riff 2 measures....

Thanks Julian for clearing the whole thing up. With your help, I got the point of how to use those alternative repeats and thus got my problem solved.

You have to select every measure you want to include in the alternate repeat, starting with the last, and mark them with the what ending you want.

So for example:

|1¯¯¯¯¯ |1¯¯¯¯¯ |1¯¯¯¯¯ |2¯¯¯¯¯ |2¯¯¯¯¯ |2¯¯¯¯¯

So in the example you play the section through "repeat 1", on the second repeat of the section you skip "repeat 1" and play "repeat 2". Hope that makes sense
